The Super Eagles of Nigeria have missed out on World Cup qualification after failing to defeat the Black Stars of Ghana.
The match was played at The Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
There was no separating both sides as the game ended in a 1-1 draw and Ghana qualified with the away goal rule.
The Super Eagles have now failed to qualify on two occasions after failing to qualify in 2006.
Amuwo News was at Diamond Estate, Festac Link Road, Amuwo Odofin to speak to fans who expressed their thoughts.
Here is what they had to say:
John Ibe, Trader
Our boys did their best but this is what I think when you represent your country, you need to show passion and hunger. You play so well that when you lose Nigerians will be proud of you. I am not happy, I am angry. When you play against a team like Ghana, you play with everything you have. It is sad that a country like Nigeria will not be in the world cup. They need to go back to the drawing boardroom and fix the national team.
Quadri Lawal, Designer
I feel bad, I am not happy but our boys did well in the first half, even though we struggled in the second half and we managed to score a disallowed goal.
Sunday Umoru, Security Personnel
I blame the coach and the management for inviting players and not giving them playing time. Nigeria would have had a terrible performance in the world cup. They didn’t deserve to qualify.
Nnamdi Oyekere, Human Resource Officer
I am disappointed, Ghana should not be scoring a goal in Nigeria. The players should not be paid for such performance.
Sylvester Abuchi, Student
In my opinion, we were cocky. We thought it would be an easy game but Ghana gave us a run for our money. Our defenders were solid but the midfield was poor.
After 90 minutes, Nigeria registered 2 shots on target while Ghana had 1 shot on target which was the decisive goal.
