The much awaited Amuwo Odofin FaceOff 3 has kicked off remarkably, with Magic Empire FC and Prekese FC locking horns on Sunday night at Darius Turf.
The light rain did not prevent both teams from putting up a good and competitive display.
However, Magic Empire dominated the first half and went into the break with a 1-0 lead after Festus Awe put them ahead.
The second half was a close contest between both sides, with Magic Empire FC defeating Perekese FC 3-1 after full time.
Notably, the turf seemed like a home ground for Magic Empire FC as a majority of the viewers celebrated with the players after the victory.
Geroge Ikechukwu, a supporter of Magic FC, said, “It was a wonderful game. The Magic Empire came with the vibe and they got the three points. The other team probably did well, but maybe they didn’t come with their fans and supporters, so their morale wasn’t boosted. It was a good game anyway; it’s always fun at Dr. Radio’s Amuwo Odofin Faceoff, so that’s why we are here.”
Festus Awe (Black Jesus), a hat trick hero who was celebrated by supporters and teammates after a brilliant performance, said, “The game was so interesting, but by the grace of God, we had the victory over our opponents, 3-1.”
When BlackJesus shared his thoughts about scoring a hat trick, he said, “I am so excited. I am so happy I scored three goals. I didn’t believe I could score three goals, and I look forward to winning the tournament with my team.”
The founder of Amuwo Odofin Faceoff, Ike Henry (Dr. Radio), assured residents that the opening ceremony would be held on Sunday night.
