Fueling Stations are closed as the black market sells fuel for N400 per liter
The current fuel shortage is the first major scarcity under the Buhari administration and residents of Amuwo find this situation disturbing. The price of black market fuel in Amuwo is worrisome as residents lament over the scarcity of fuel, price of black market fuel, and queues at fueling stations that are currently open. To avoid the queues, residents are subliminally forced to patronize black market sellers who sell for N300 per liter during the day and N400 per liter at night in contrast to N165 per liter at fueling stations.
According to a black marketer, the reason for the hike at night is because fuelling stations are closed and this increases demand for fuel hence why black marketers take advantage at night but she claimed she only sells for N400 per liter. An okada rider who also purchased fuel from a black marketer says the current price of black market fuel in the area is N400 during the day and N500 at night.
AMUWO NEWS had a chat with residents and here is what they have to say “Having to deal with the scarcity is stressful, the black market price is high and a lot with will be affected, the woman grinding pepper has doubled her price and rightfully so”
“I spent 4 hours in a queue just to buy fuel, the situation here is terrible” A resident lamented to AMUWO NEWS correspondent.
A fuel attendant told AMUWO NEWS they are hopeful there will be the availability of fuel tomorrow as they currently expect a supply of the commodity.
Imagine starting a new month with stress of fuel scarcity and price so high on the black market…. May God will help us
