While Nigerians celebrated the 2022 Workers’ Day with a day off, Usman Razaq and Samuel Titus were delighted to be at work to contribute their quota to a company they deemed worthy and deserved extra efforts from its employees.
Mr. Razaq and Mr. Titus were dressed in their black pants, white shirts, and ties, fully ready for the day’s work.
Razaq is a driver at Optiva Capital, Festival Mall, and Amuwo Odofin.
He expressed his gratitude to the organization for the opportunity given to him and for what the company has done for him and his family.
“I am happy to be at work because this company is a good company and I pray God blesses the company and its employees.
“We expected a holiday to spend time with our families, but our branch is new and we have work to do, so we are happy to be here.”
He also described the workers’ day as a day for him to be grateful to God.
“Having a job is enough reason to be thankful. Some of us have an opportunity that a lot of people are looking for. I just want to say thank you to God.”
Titus, who is also a driver at Optiva Capital, thanked God for life. Although he claimed not to have enough funds to celebrate with his family, he said being alive is enough reason to be thankful.
A civil servant who works with Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Mrs. Oladejo Fadowo Oluwatoyosi celebrated with her family and friends as they attended a children’s party held at Arapasopo T Junction, Mile 2 estate.
Mrs. Fadowo believes it’s great that workers across the nation celebrate themselves.
“So far, you can move out in the morning and come back in the evening. It is something and you are working when you have something to put on the table for your family. You are a worker, and I want to say “happy workers’ day.
“It’s a good thing that we are celebrating ourselves. We are celebrating our contribution to the nation because, one way or the other, we are all giving back to the nation. “
She also added, “As a public servant, my aim is to deliver whatever the nation wants me to give back.”
Mrs. Fadowo believes workers’ contributions are worth celebrating, and she commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for all he is doing for Lagos state workers. She implored all workers to keep up the good work.
