Schools in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area have resumed for the third term academic session.
The resumption followed the directives of the Lagos State Government that all public and private schools should resume on April 25, 2022.
It was a quiet afternoon at Crystal County Schools, Crystal Estate, Amuwo Odofin, as classes were in session.
Amuwo News had a conversation with the admin officer of the nursery and primary school, Mrs. Alice Adedapo who said the turnout has been good, but a few students are yet to resume due to the ongoing Ramadan fast.
“For us, we’ve had a good turnout, children have been coming in but we have a few who are still back at home and that’s because most of them are Muslims.”

Mrs. Adedapo also said, “They are rounding up their fast, they would rather stay back for another week and after the Ramadan break, they would return to school on Thursday.”
She added that the number of those who have resumed has been encouraging, although the public holidays next week might destabilize the calendar of the term.
“If you are taking a child out of school for one week, that is a backlog of one-week activities. Considering that there will be a midterm break and other sports activities that will bite into whatever plan the school has.”
She implored parents to go out of their way to ensure children are in school at the appropriate time, noting that absence from school affects children.
A new school in the area, Harlington Schools, Diamond estate, along Festac link road, has only fifty percent of the students currently attending classes.

The Headmistress, Mrs. Anyaoha Jane said parents assured the school that students will resume next week as they claimed late resumption is due to unexpected reasons.
According to Mrs. Ann, who is the Admin officer of New Fountain Montessori Children School along Festac link road, eighty percent of the students have resumed.
Mrs. Ann Michael also said it is a norm for pupils at the school to resume in the second week of a new term and she would not blame it on a specific reason.
