Symphony of Praise Initiative (SOP) has commenced its first job creation programme for youths in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, focused on job opportunities and skills development.
The initiative is an all-encompassing programme for youths in Amuwo Odofin. The goal was two-fold: to position youths for job opportunities and to give the community job opportunities.

The Family Head of the Admin and Finance unit of the SOP initiative, Mr. Tunde Adenuga, gave details of the programme, saying, “This year we are taking the SOP initiative to another level entirely. What we had today was an initiative from the admin and finance unit.
“We want to make this a yearly event because we realized we have people in the community who don’t have jobs and some don’t have the skills to write a comprehensive CV or appear before an interviewer. So we want to see how we can equip them and train them so when they go out there, they can do well and be proud of themselves rather than go there and come back disappointed.Â

“This is one of the ways to empower the community from all manner of vices because we have come to realize that an idle hand is the Devil’s workshop.”
The Secretariat team lead under the Admin and Finance department, Mrs. Olubunmi Damilare Ayeni said, “We realized that a lot of people need that tutelage on interview tips. We also realized that everybody needs training, no matter how good you think you are, there’s also a need to improve.”

Beneficiaries of the programme spoke highly of the initiative.
Anjorin Dolapo, a 400-level student studying mass communication at the University of Ilorin, said, “It was a wonderful experience. The facilitators spoke to us and I was able to learn a whole lot, from CV writing to presentation skills, when you are going to apply for a job and during interviews. It was exceptional.”

Precious Toyo, a graduate of theatre arts, described her experience by saying, “I learned about life after school and how to create job opportunities for yourself and how to go about it. What to do in terms of creating a resume and how to pass a job interview.”
It was observed that Alan & Grant, a recruiting firm, were at the event to share job opportunities with job seekers.

The event was held on Saturday at Crystal County Schools in Crystal Estate, Amuwo Odofin.
