Residents had a frank exchange of views regarding Peter Obi’s (Presidential Aspirant) presidential aspirations and his capacity to lead the federal republic of Nigeria if elected president at the 2023 general elections.

The argument occurred on Tuesday morning at a vendor stand along durbar junction, Mile 2, Amuwo Odofin.

The topic of discussion followed Mr. Obi’s emergence as the Presidential Candidate of his newly joined political party, Labour Party.

Engineer Chisom Okereke, a resident, spoke passionately and emphatically about his preferred presidential candidate, Mr. Obi.

“As a person, I am 100 percent supporting Peter Obi because I have tested him as an executive governor. Among all the executive governors contesting for the presidency now, Peter Obi is the saint among them and he’s an economist, the records are there.

“In the world that we are in today, countries are run economically not this thing we are doing. Look at Germany, you cannot have people who just share dollars and are short of ideas with nothing to offer.

“I’m saying this as a concerned Nigerian, look at the former governor of Lagos State, Tinubu, with everything that Lagos state has, where are the riches?

“I’m trying to be transparent as a Nigerian. I’m tired of this situation so I want a change; a positive change and not the type we have been experiencing. If we don’t get it right now, I wonder what will haven because our eyes are open. We need to get Peter Obi now, who is an economist and can fix the economy of Nigeria” Engr Okereke said.

Mr. Peter Odoh, a resident, was slightly on the other side of the fence when he noted that Mr. Obi’s credibility is not enough to lead Nigeria. Mr. Odoh believes the system does not tolerate men like Mr. Obi a chance to rule the nation.

“We know the system, we have cabals that control and dictate who they want to be in power.

“Peter Obi is my right person but the system will not make it work because we have a cabal that’s ruling this country. If you’re not part of the system, nothing will happen.

“Our votes don’t count because these people hijack it. There is a system that is running this country and if you are not among them, forget about it” Mr. Odoh said.

Justin Emeka, a businessman, shared similar views with Mr. Engr Okereke. “As long as I’m concerned, among all these candidates running for this presidency, Peter Obi’s pedigree speaks loud. He has been tested, the facts and figures are out there.

“The likes of Atiku and Tinubu don’t have anything in their manifesto, nothing to show for it. I stay here in Lagos state and we can see what is happening in Lagos state.

“We need economists, people with the interest of the country at heart. Peter Obi has the interest of this country at heart and we can see it by his actions. He does not throw money around, look at the primary election that ended a few days ago.

“This era is the era of us taking our future back, the youths of this country are rooting for Peter Obi and it is Peter Obi we want.”
