The Mile 2 community stadium has hosted a screening match for staff of Sifax Group.
The game, which lasted an hour, kicked off at 8:30 a.m.
The screening match was a practice run for an upcoming novelty game to commemorate the 60th birthday of the shipping company’s chairman, Mr. Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi.
Wale Adeniyi, the head of I.T, Sifax group told our correspondent that an inter-company match will be played on Mr. Afolabi’s birthday.
“We are preparing for a novelty match to celebrate our chairman’s (Mr. Afolabi) 60th birthday, which will be held on April 29, 2022,” he said.
Mr. Oluwaseun Ogunyemi, who is a staff of Sifax Group, described Mile 2 Stadium as beautiful and conducive, and he praised the residents of Amuwo Odofin for their hospitality.
Mr. Folorunsho Obaoye Oyebanji, who is the team coach, described the screening process as seamless.
“We selected 30 players and we will do a final screening on Saturday morning.”
“We are looking to select 20 players for the novelty match,” Mr. Oyebanji told Amuwo News.
Mr. Oyebanji, who is popularly known as Coach Carlos, has been involved in other competitions in Amuwo Odofin.
He claimed the competitions include Amuwo Games, Remojay Competition, Zonal Competition, Independent Cup, and Charity Organization Competition.
