The hospitality industry is one of the most profitable industries in Amuwo Odofin. It is also one of the most competitive industries in the area. It is almost impossible to walk 5 kilometers and not come across a hotel, restaurant, eatery, or bar.
I have been to hotels, restaurants, and bars in Amuwo and I can tell you for free that my experience at most of these places was not good. I have stopped going to these places due to poor service, and I can imagine the number of people who have done likewise.
Poor customer service is a huge problem in the hospitality business, and business owners are losing money because of this. It’s a major concern for me as a customer and a member of this community.
I am writing this piece because I understand the power of excellent service. It saddens me when business owners leave money on the table due to poor service. My point is that you need to start treating customers like kings because customers don’t owe you loyalty.
Have we not made a buying decision at some point in our lives because a friend told us about the great experience that they had? Well, I have the power customers have. Excellent service causes a ripple effect, and it should be taken seriously.
A few days ago, I went to Ibiza with friends. Ibiza is a restaurant and bar along the Festac Link Road. We left the bar disappointed and did not buy anything because the waitress was condescending. We decided to visit the restaurant, and the service was excellent. Although the food was not great, the service was mind-blowing, and we were all certain we would be going back to the restaurant only.
There are many reasons why customer service can be poor, but it all boils down to three things: no clear understanding of what customer service should entail, maybe the company does not have good managers to manage employees effectively, or perhaps they just don’t care about customers. Whatever the cause may be, it is important to address these issues as soon as possible to avoid leaving money on the table.
